The Okizu Foundation serves children with cancer and the siblings of children with cancer. They purchased a basically undeveloped 600 acre tract of land near Oroville, California in 1997.
We were brought in to develop the master plan and architecture for the initial phase of development. The plan called for development of a series of simple camper cabins, dining hall, maintenance center and program activity areas. These were completed between 1998 and 2001. It included working with local engineers and builders to establish all of the infrastructure and circulation system. Since that time we have designed a series of program elements that have been implemented over the years. They include a boat house and swim dock in the lake, the health center and the preliminary plans for the arts center.
