This 11,400 square-foot expansion was one of several additions to the well-known local specialty food market designed by this office. The owner desired to project a very different image and environment to compliment his specialty food items. Design concerns included lighting methods, finish materials, spatial arrangements and acoustical contributions. The finished project has been referred to many times by National Food Experts as an outstanding example of current trends in desired retail concepts.
A new café was the latest of several additions that Domokur Architects has done to the well-known local specialty food market which was established in the 1930’s. The owner desired a larger café area in order to meet the needs of his customers and the growing demand for more space. The new addition has created a much needed focus to the street facade allowing natural daylight into the space and a clear view of the activity within. Design considerations included lighting methods, finish materials, spatial arrangements and acoustical contributions.
