Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) provides comprehensive flood control and water conservation for the Muskingum River Watershed. Recreational parks have been created from the construction of these flood protection dams. In 2013, the District completed individual park Master Plans for six of their parks. The Stantec Team was selected to provide improvements to the Pleasant Hill Lake Park located in Perrysville, Ohio. The improvements at the park, phased over 7 years to minimize disruptions, will focus on adding amenities and introducing edge sports that complement power boating on the lake.
With over 300 RV sites and a mixture of 10 cabins and various types of campsites (including a unique equestrian campground) the camp is, at present, well developed. Our scope includes all new utilities, upgrading park amenities and recreational activities, replacing older cabins with new and creating a sense of “neighborhood” for campers. Additional improvements at Pleasant Hill include enhancing the beach area with the inclusion of floating docks, marina improvements, trails, bike paths, inflatable water play structures, and water slides. Near the beach area, a high ropes course, climbing wall and several zip lines will imbue the area with a strong sense of sportsmanship and excitement. The target completion for all design and construction is 2021.
The project represents a significant investment into publicly available recreation for the state, and will enable thousands more families to enjoy the expansive and beautiful Ohio Wildlife within the MWCD’s area of coverage.
