This new 12,177 SF station replaces a much smaller station located in the fast growing commercial and residential Montrose area of Summit County. The facility, located on a 4.2-acre site, provides four double loaded bays for fire apparatus and EMS squads. Integrated into this area are spaces for the storage of medical supplies, clean-up facilities for personnel, equipment, turnout gear and hose, and a small maintenance work room. The remainder of the facility is comprised of office space for on-duty personnel, a training/meeting room, day room, kitchen, bunk rooms, toilet and locker spaces for men and women, turnout gear storage, a fitness area and domestic and office support spaces.
Site planning for the facility focused on segregating the emergency operations from the adjacent residential neighborhood. Grassed mounds, parking and equipment roadways depressed into the topography, and placement of landscaping was strategic to minimize light and noise migration onto the adjacent residential properties.
